Are Candidates Receiving More Multiple Offers?

by | Jun 18, 2011 | Recruiter Training, Top Echelon Blog

So much has been written—and continues to be written—about how this current economic recovery is slow, tepid, generally unsatisfying.

Okay, there’s ample evidence to support that.  However, there’s one thing that never changes, no matter the state of the economy or the lack of speed with which the recovery is progressing, and that’s this:

Companies ALWAYS want the best talent.

Always, always, always.  They may not want everybody else (or anybody else), but they want the best talent, and the best is usually represented by a recruiter.

We recently posed a poll question to the Preferred Member recruiters in Top Echelon Network, and that question is as follows:

Are more candidates receiving multiple offers than a year ago?

The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of recruiters who selected each one:

Yes, substantially more—31.5%
Yes, a little more—35.6%
No, about the same number—30.1%
No, a little less—2.7%
No, substantially less—0.0%

As you can see, a combined 62.6% indicated that candidates are receiving “substantially more” (31.5%) or “a little more” (35.6%) in the way of multiple offers than they were a year ago at this time.

In addition, more than 30% of respondents indicated that candidates are receiving “about the same number,” and a miniscule percentage chose “a little less.”  Nobody chose “substantially less,” which makes sense given the other results.

That being said, what are YOU seeing in the marketplace?  Are candidates, especially the top candidates, receiving more multiple offers than a year ago?
